Sub/Amp Parts

I have a bet with someone on who can build a better Sub and Amp. He can build a sub, I can build an amp,,but I don't know where to get the parts. I am trying to find a source for quality parts for the building of both,not a preassemble one.The money factor is not important.Just want to see which one of us is better.

LOL? Let me get this straight?....Your are having a freindly compatition with a person to see who can build a better sub, and also a better amp? To build a sub the rite way is hard enough! I have seen a really nice desighned 12" sub, that someon made out of diff pars of subs. He cut part of the basket and welded more to it to stiffen it and a whole bunch of things. Basicly what he did was take a really nice v.c. from a sub that high xmax and he smashed it into a basket of a 12" and took a cone from a 15" and put that in place. So he ended up with a sub that Was a 15" sub, but it was pretty shallow becaus of him cutting the basket and spreading it apart and making it wider for the 15" cone. The subs was pretty loud until he smoked it. It had really good excursion as well! It liked to be in a smaller sealed box because it had a bottoming problem. Think about it for a second, High excursion 12" v.c. in a 12" cheap basket, Widened to fit a 15" cone on it and it moves a ton. Let me know when you build it! I would like to see the finished product. So pm me when you finish, I am working on building a 18" my own way. I'm reasearching alot to figure out how to wind the v.c. rite and make everything perfect. It's all about trial and error.

That makes no sense, if you know how to build an amp....then you know where to get parts.

good luck on getting a empty circuit board. the cost on getting just one with all the traces on it. Hope you have REALLY deep pockets and the soldering skills of a 40year vet. Doing simple amp repairs is one thing, but designing your own, best of luck.

I have designed 2 woofers from ground up. they work exceptionally well. to have a prototype made when you are onlk looking to make 1 or 2, again, get ready to beat your bank account. To have 1 or 2 big motors built, and charged, be looking to spend alot.

I asked does anyone know a good supplier for the parts.I said price wasn't important since the bet is for more than the parts would be regardless.We both have built our own item about 20 plus yrs ago in the Air Force. So how would we know where to get parts? I figured since car audio guys are fanatics about such things they could help.Sorry I wasted my time.

You just don't hear of people with the skill set to build a complete custom amp and not know where to get the parts to do it.

I mean, really, think about it.
