Decaf Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...&hl=clipped http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...&hl=clipped i ponder why stuff comes out dirty as hell too... at times its because the producer was looking to create a type of sound... but most of the time its simply not knowing that u can only add so much mid highs and lows in a song before there is no room left for any other data, thus the extra is cut off or clipped it just causes excess heat usually, which is the most likely failure of speakers, thermal voicecoil failures, usually when u dont know when to turn it down sometimes it can overexcurt ur sub, like on some waka flocka songs... that causes mechanical damage sometimes... like smashing ur voicecoil against the backplate or tearing spiders, joint failures etc Edited February 23, 2010 by Decaf Quote
Baydestrian Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) This is why I was shocked to find out how badly Timbaland's music is clipped considering he's been in the game producing since the 90's and his music sounds good...I found out from a thread on SoundDomain from a member who doesn't listen to pop type of music and decided to play some songs on the radio that were big and played Give It To Me with Nelly Furtado and heard something that sounded like clipping in his car so he checked it on his computer and sure enough it was heavily clipped, he checked into other songs prod. by Timbo and sure enough they were clipped too...I decided to see for myself and every song off both Shock Values is clearly, and I mean clearly, clipped I'm going to run some Dr. Dre produced songs and see if what kind of clipping there is...thanks to decaf whenever I dl a new song or album I run it through WMP first Edited February 23, 2010 by wonderbreadSTS Quote 2015 Mazda 6 JVF Customz 4.0 Proto 15>Wolfram W4500 @ .5ohm 2 Sundown Neo 6.5 + 2 CT Meso Tweeters (Front) x Kicker KS6.5 (Rear)>JL Audio VX400/4i NSB-AMG35 (front) / 40ah Lithium Headway (Rear) built by Erni Audio & Electrical
