Port size?

just need a little help figuring out the proper port size. All the programs I find online are telling me that a port 2"x20" 4"deep on a 9 cuft box will tune it to 36 htz. Most everything I am reading on here says 12sq" per ft of box, I would really like a little input from those with experience, THANKS A LOT!!!

12sqin of port per cubic foot. generally you want 14-16 but 12 should be fine. to find this you just multiply the width and height of the port then divide that number by the cubic feet of your box (after port displacement)

Then how do you determine the depth?

is it just me or is that the exact same thing that the guy doing the 4 kickers 12's has?
