spl4life Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 okay... im in the middle of finishing up my pods... and im wonder about crossover placement... i did my reading, done my research...according to what i read... keep the crossover as close to the speakers as possible... and away from anything magnetic to reduce noise and some issue with impedence if the wires from the crossover to the speakers are too long... i also read somewhere that its recommended to keep your crossover from vibration... im planing to put my crossover in the speaker pod...(see pic below)im not to worried about vibration in the pod... is this safe? will the crossover overheat? MrSkippyJ Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 so im assuming its safe to install the crossover in the pod... Only problem I see with it is access to it, but I can't imagine why you would need access that often. There shouldn't be any heat problem at all so I say go for it. But if it's true that you should keep it away from magnetic source, wouldn't the woofer from your comp set disrupt something? I'm getting a pair of Q-forms for my car, so I'm gonna need to figure out a placement for my crossovers as well. let me know what you decide to do. My Youtube Page. spl4life Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 okay... i think ill go for it... the woofer magnet on the component isnt that strong... its not like a 0ga power wire or a lvl 5 magnet or anything...so i dont think it will be an issue... Kicks are easier to find a crossover location because u have the whole kick area to decide where to mount it...these pods are going to be installed on my rear seat belt bolts... my new sub box is gona cover the entire back seat so i want to keep the cross over in the pod...
