A leaking gas tank is not exactly safe. I can't really see where the stereo would do that to the gas tank (I know it rattles alot though). What I did was cut to long strips of carpet that had a rubber backin and put them ontop of my tank, then tightened the brackets again. Worked like a charm, no rattle from the tank anymore... that is a cheap solution if you have some carpet laying around. but as far as that leak, I dont know what to tell you. My tank leaks, but it is up at the float, and it only leaks if I fill it up all the way... I am working on that. Good luck.
