Okay, so my buddy who I have done 3 systems so far in this vette decided to take the big plunge, fiberglassed tub holding a 15" woofer. First box was a 2.7cf box tuned to 34hz for his Hifonics Atlas, second box was a sealed box for the Atlas 12". Believe it or not, mybuddy is usually the designated driver at parties and will ocasionally drive a 3rd or 4th person home in the hatch of his vette. So the MDF boxes wasnt cutting it.

So, I finally talked him in to doing a fiberglass tub in the well of his hatch. Restrictions are when the tops are in, the sub needs to lay low, so I have a limit of about 7-8" before I come close to the T Top....

I had a plan to do a directional horn mouth that the woofer will fire in, that may still happen, but its looking tighter and tigher by the moment ... If I do that, basically the woofer will fire up, but in to a opening that will direct the sound wave to the back wall, (imagine down fireing- but with a calculated horn)

So, lets start..... The day was hot, a nice warm 100 degrees, windless day, perfect day for fiberglassing, buddy got to my house about 7pm, was still about 95ish... got supplies, dropped to about 85ish, and wind was kickin up big time. Had to start all the alum foil, and plastic wrap linning the area so I dont accidentally glass the bottom to the carpet... That WAS NOT going well, with the wind blowing, and my garage temporarily not accessable, it was a disaster getting everything to lay down without the drop cloth flying in the wind.... So basically long story short- tonite I got the basic rough glassing shape done, and thats all I need, the rest will be done tomorrow

But tomorrow I will have a few hrs of grinding away with 26grit from my 7" sander, get all those fuk ups out, and re glass 1 more layer, pop the top on, and get creative.... SO DONT LAUGH AT THE GLASS JOB THUS FAR!!!!

it will be smoothed and pimped out.....

So thats it for tonite... I will see what I come up with tomorrow for the top, and reinforcing the rest of the glassed tub.

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

a few more pics......

almost done, just gotta work on cosmetics

Its currently drying up, I have 1 layer of fleece, then mat glass, then another layer of fleece... after seeing how hard it gets (feels nice and hard as is )

The horn wont work, because when the T tops are loaded in the back, it will obstruct the fitting of the tops. So, for now just sealed

As you see there will be a little more grinding, smoothing- But Iam assuming he just wants grey carpet anyways... so Iam not worried about it

glassing isnt hard, it takes practice, and you gotta remember mix ratios, or just learn by experience. There were a couple times on this build, I mixed the resin to hot, (forgetting the fact it was summer time) even had to take it out of the vette while catching the shape of the tub because I was scared it would melt thru the plastic mat in to the carpet- But I was safe... This particular car was hard because I cant fit in the hatch area to get the mold right in the tub, I had to bend over the wing, and reach down, which WAS not easy....

I seen your build, box is getting better man
