boogie0410 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 hi my name is rob and i am new to this site.and i have some questions to ask, does anybody have info on how to rebuild door panels to hold more than one speaker?i have a 97 jeep cherokee and would like to put two or three 5 1/4 in the front doors and one in the rear doors. thanks for the reply rob
Team-Atomic-Andrew Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 do you know how to fiberglass? because you will need to, you have to cut the rings out of MDF then space them off the door, stretch fleece over them and resin it, add fiberglass, more resin, build it up pretty good, then put a layer of body filler, bondo or whatever and finially sand it smooth and cover it
boogie0410 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 i know the basic of fiberglassing but what do you mean cover it? thanks for the reply
Team-Atomic-Andrew Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 you have to stretch the fleece over the rings and staple it down
jbondox Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 holy crap... what the hell is that door panel set up? did the person doing it just lay 3 rings down and say that is where it is going to go... as for the Cherokee, you can modify with a simple vinyl covered trim panel (1/4" MDF... or carpet) on your vehicle. I did 8 inch, 5, and tweeter in each door (front and back) pretty simply back in 97. SMD SuperSeller VerifiedJbondoXJames Shields
