Fi BTL 18 SPL Design HELP NEEDED

sql with deep bass is usually a 27-32 hz tune. 27 if you're just trying to play dumb low and hairtrick, 30-32 if you just love the lows (and 30 is loooowwwww, with transfer function from the car it will usually play ~5hz under without unloading, and thats about where you start to just feel pressure instead of hear sound). i went from 32 to 30 to 35 and 30 was def my fav, but 35 is a whole lot more brutal.

for spl you usually end up between 40-70hz depending on where the vehicle peaks, a caprice wagon is probably somewhere in the mid 40's, but there is only one way to find out...

measure out your car and figure out how much room you have to spare. then use the RE Box Calculator to build a box , want the box to hit crazy lows 30hz,31,ect. then tune it low in a big box maybe 7qu 32hz. for spl you will have to build a tighter box 5qu tuned higher start at 38hz then go from there. Spl numbers usually take alot of boxes not one magic box , trial and error .

I've also noticed you can kinda compensate for under powering a sub by giving it more box volume , making it easier for the sub to breath, of course this could have a negative effect if your tuned high and play some low notes without you sub sonic filter set correctly. hope this helps.

Everyone wants a 18" BTL because they think it's god-like (which it is) but they have no idea what they have to go before making it god-like.

Anyways, yeah like everyone says, get a fully loaded BL or two SSDs or something. That would still pound.

Thank you sir!!!! I apprechiate your help !!! Thats exactly what im trying to do until I break down and purchase an amp with more power. I built the box last week with the re calculator at around 9.7 cubic feet at 30 hz after all displacements.

my question is why are some of you busting his balls. if hes got the money and maybe he just got an awesome deal on that Fi do u want him to turn it down because hes not the best at making a box. atleast hes trying unlike some people out there that will just pay someone else to put somerandom shit in there and call it their system. good luck man and hope everything works out good for you. i would help you out but i myself am still new at this and don't know how to tune or build a box just right yet.
