chapo123 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 16k x 3 is 48k... divide that by 6 and you get 8K PER SUB !! holy power lol Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked. i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat 2 sa12s, saz1500 build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/91183-chapo123s-sundown-build-log/page__gopid__1250604entry1250604
Chaise Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I don't know if they will see every last watt though... I like the oldschool one.. Current System: Stock 2011 Tahoe Loud as F**K Just kidding
sayhuh? Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Ric, best wishes man. lol Trippi, I like your style. Blown
Blackedout Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 16k x 3 is 48k... divide that by 6 and you get 8K PER SUB !! holy power lol If the subs are d2 and he's running 2 per amp, each amp will see 2 ohms... before rise.. After rise, probably 4 ohms or more.... You're looking at 2kw per sub on a good day... Hopefully that problem is addressed. Trunk Build Log
SounDigital Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Playing the whole low end frequency range makes the impedance rise to not rise that much. Say the coils read 1.7DCR, I'd guess it would stay at an average of 2.5 ohms (most due to the power compression), sometimes close to Re, sometimes more than 3x that. Pushing a sub towards its limit also play a role in keeping the impedance rise low, as the coil travels outside the gap the counter electromotive force is reduced (the brake force the motor applies to the coil). The 16kD can easily break the 12kW mark at 2 ohms, so the idea of one of them pushing two subs wouldn't be bad.

Freshman6969 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 lost track of this, but trippi your fucking nuts dude lmao, you just dropped like 5 years of house payments on amps -.-, please give me a graduation present of an alt? lmao, and ric i LOVE the way those seats look! it was werid being in the hummer with no back to the seats hows the clearance on them in relevance to the subs when there playing? close? Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k! Why would you EVER WANT flex?huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct? My FeedbackJeep-BuildlogPT LOSER buildlog

I've never been a fan of running amps at less than 1 ohm, but I've also never been a fan of running a 1 ohm stable amp at 2 ohms either... Given each circumstance is different, there is no universal answer to this question... But I'm interested to hear your thoughts in any case. Trunk Build Log
sayhuh? Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the difference is the affect it has on the electrical as well as the 'cleaner' signal. The higher the impedance, the less drain it is on the electrical and is a cleaner signal, which go hand in hand. i.e. your SQ peeps will run a higher impedance, normally. So really, there is no which is better, but which one can your car handle better and what you prefer.. If that makes sense...lol Then again, I may be wrong, but it's been years since I've had to care lol Blown
