BanginOnABudget Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 first, facts. amp is a insignia 600x2, dont laugh, because it is the loudest amp i have. im using a 10a 12/6v power supply to power it for testing. when i DMM the power leads it reads 11.77vDC. fine, right? well when i hook them up to the amp the load jumps to 16.46vDC! this was my first amp and i would love to have it working. tell me what to check and i will, i can solder and all that, i just need to know what i need to replace! power indicators dont work, but the internal fan does, i think its wired to the power input. ANY idea why could cause this load jump!? im taking out my passenger seat, battery is disconnected, going to unwire and take out the three amps, take out the 70+ lb box, then the platform so i can crimp 1 wire. Almost as bad as those fegs that put those horns in their grills and roll down the street distorting the block.... 1990 Jeep Cherokee 2 Dr. Big-3 in 0g on Stock Alt. Boon Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 The problem is the power supply. Not the amp. It probably can't handle the turn-on load as your amp charges the rail capacitors. 10.x volts fo' life!
