jaesin215 Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 I know they have 500w written on them as rms but they also say 600watts peak...is this really the most i can get away with these? also i dont know what box to get....ported right? my head unit is a Pioneer deh-1200mp...the sub is a Orion Cobalt with a single voice coil rated for/at 4ohms. can i drop the ohm and use more power and possibly to get that thing to really dump? or if it is rated for 4ohms i should stay there because i will blow the amp? i was offered a 1500w kole (the new design one) for 125 bucks but the guy also offered a 3000w kole (same design as previous amp....new design) also i havent upgraded or just bought a new stock amp and a yellow top optima (using for starts and system) dont got it made yet to have two batterys....thanks in advance for any answers you guys can help me with. oh yeah what do u guys think about componets? orion? mbquarts? rockford?....this is all goiing in a 99 buick regal btw. lem43606 Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Depending on what amp you have them on, and what ohm rating the amo can do. So since they are single voice coil if you were running them off a class D amp you can run them in parallel and drop them down to two ohms. but it does depend on what your amp does. so say you have an alpine mrp-1000 which a 2 ohm amp you can run 500 watts to each sub. single they arent dual 4 ohm subs you cant drop it to one ohm. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.
