sven6977
thanks for all the replies guys I do like rear fill.. a lot, and its nice for my passengers to hear it too. I think I may have been swayed to the RE comps and the coax's. Anyone else have experience with em? I would be getting the 6.5" coax and the 6.5" comps. Also, does anyone think that the foam baffles would stop the air pressure from bustin thru the woofers of the coax? (like these) Seriously, I really appreciate all of your opinions. And if there is no solution for nullifying the air pressure going through the speakers I guess $54 isnt toooo much to have die in like 2 years. Im also someone who likes rear fill...runnin memphis PR components in the front doors and rear deck. Ive heard mostly bad things about those speaker baffles. bought a set and there sittin in the corner of my room. but what you could try is enclosing the speaks. a small fiberglass enclosure would do if you can build it yourself...but you are taking a risk. most speaks are built for infinite baffle, so they may sound like crap if you enclose them. Ive built a fiberglass rear deck that enclosed the speaks before and it sounded great. CaptainzPlanetz
Dont run the baffles most speakers are designed to run in an infinite baffle type of set-up, choking em with the baffles will most likely kill the midbass response, though if you just want to have a lil sound for the passengers you could probably do it, it wont be optimum, but you wont need optimum for a lil rear fill, plus the music reflecting off the back glass already amplifies it. Also I still have a pair of by 9's in the rear deck, and the pressure doesnt effect them, though that is probably since I am firing the subs into the cab sealed off from the trunk........ Reallunacy
Why not just put the rear speakers in the rear doors, scrap the idea of the rear deck. I plan to anyways lol.
wL<3bass
If you run infinite baffle speakers your gonna wanna cross them high 100-160hz with a steep slope 24db per octave then they will sound fine, my t152s are cross in my a-pillars at 100hz with a 24db per octave slope Edit: that's if you run foam/fiberglass pods Edited April 18, 2010 by wL<3bass Quote Vehicle: 1997 S10 Blazer 4dr 4X4 Exterior: Rear End Bagged, Black Grill, Lifted 2" Amplifiers: Rockford Fosgate T8004 & T10001bd Batteries: 2 Stinger SPV35, Kinetik HC2400 Electrical: Big 3, DC Power 290amp Alternator w/ MLA at 15.5v Enclosure: 4.2 ft³ @ 33Hz 84sq.in. of port (20sq.in. per cube) Headunit: Eclipse CD3200 w/ 80G iPod Mids/Highs: Rockford T152s (a-pillars), Rockford T162s (doors) Subwoofers: 1 15" Fi BL Fully Loaded Wire: All 1/0g Kicker Hyperflex My YouTube Videos My Fiberglass A-Pillar Build My "Seamless" Looking Box Build My DD1508 T-Line Bandpass Build "Seamless" w/ Acrylic Windows (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Stealth 8" Fiberglass Build (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Build For A Friend's '08 Cobalt 15" BL Sealed Off From The Trunk My feedback/references... Ive built a fiberglass rear deck that enclosed the speaks before and it sounded great. thanks for the reply, i guess fiberglass would be ideal (can make the enclosure larger), but unfortunately ideal would cost me more than i can afford atm... (gonna buy some second skin for the trunk and whatnot along with power and speakers) Why not just put the rear speakers in the rear doors, scrap the idea of the rear deck. I plan to anyways lol. that would be awesome, but i cant afford to do that project yet. already shellin' out 3/4 of my work-study job salary for this lol If you run infinite baffle speakers your gonna wanna cross them high 100-160hz with a steep slope 24db per octave then they will sound fine, my t152s are cross in my a-pillars at 100hz with a 24db per octave slope Edit: that's if you run foam/fiberglass pods ^^great info bro. I think i'm just gonna be cheap and try the foam baffles, and cross the coax's over @100ish and i think my amp has a 18db slope on it so it should work out okay. wL<3bass
Sounds good try if you hear a popping sound or distorted bass try 120hz and I definitely wouldn't go under 100hz for sure. Edit: also lightly fit them with polyfil it will help. Cool, I will definitely be posting a build log for all of this (mid may, then june) , so we shall see how it works out. p.s. where can i get "polyfill" i can never seem to find it near me. Im gonna google a little harder and maybe it will show itself. If I do, of course I'll edit my lack of knowledge lol edit: nevermind. Reading > me. I'll either order it from amazon, or maybe check out wal-mart's fabric section. lol Edited April 19, 2010 by sven6977 Quote Rowan University Electrical Engineering LINK TO MY BUILDDDDD Current Setup in my 00' Hyundai Accent: Pioneer DEH-P6900UB RE.6.5C AUDIO 500w 6.5" COMPONENT CAR SPEAKERS Eclipse SE 6500 (6.5 coax in rear deck) two Kicker C124's in a t-line tuned to 28.6Hz Kenwood KAC-7204 US amps 1600.4 V2 Upcoming Build this summer: T-Line enclosure for two C124's tuned to 28ish hz O_O amp my speakers with a US amps 1600.4.
