As for the gap...If you can't bring it together...I would fiberglass it...Since this is your first box then lets stay away from that and I would get some Liquid nails, liquid nail the gap, and give it some silicone if you want to make sure there is no little gaps.

so caulk it and than silicone it i will keep that in mind when i put the top piece on

Sanding it and then adding glass will be ok! if its not going to be seen you can carpet it after your done! But just make sure that the inside is sealed up good and u dont have to worry too much about the outside!

would a circle jig work for this because the l7 is more of a square than a circle but i will probably end up using the jigsaw.

its coming a long koo got to do some repair with wood putting though some cracks but for the most part its looking koo i will have some pictures of it later on today
