a slot vent is anything not square or round.

and IMHO a round vent is the most efficient and best sounding. at least for me.

circle ports: u can use pvc or aeros. aeros are the better option because they are suppose to be more efficient than other ports with a bit less turbulance, thereby decreasing the chance for port noise. a bit easier to adjust the tuning...just pull them out and cut some off.

slot vent: just a port that uses one of the walls of the enclosure (either one of the sides, top, bottom, or a combination of sides). slot and square vents are a little less complicated to tune.

square vent: i would just consider this a port that doesnt use a box wall. basically like a small box with 4 walls being attached to port an enclosure.
