taysextreme
So my question is regardless of what resistance you wire the subs to, what is the best practice on making the actual connection with the subs coil? i know no one solders to the actual coil. so what do you use? especially when use 8gauge speaker wire to link your subs together. p.s. i did use the search button and been reading threads for about three hours lol ( all about ohms) thx for the info

Guest
alot of people use bolts. they put the bolt on the box and put the speaker wire (with a lug on it) on one side the the same on the other side to connect to amp. you can do lets say 8 bolts for a 4 coil woofer. one for each + and -. or you can clean it up by combining wires...if you have the right ohm load...terrible explanation

I think I might implement this bolting system. thx kranny
HHR Ed
Actually people do solder connections to their subwoofers. I do in some setups. Ever hear of direct wire leads? Ever hear of direct wire leads? right, but at some point 99% of us are connecting those direct leads to wire at the box terminals or twisting them to the wires that go to the amp
HHR Ed
right, but at some point 99% of us are connecting those direct leads to wire at the box terminals or twisting them to the wires that go to the amp No, its only 98% ha. I've also ran wire into the box and soldered onto that. Or, I use bolts. Or, if the woofer has a nice terminal, I will put 8awg to the terminal and run 1 piece of wire straight from that terminal, through a hole in the box sealed with gooey stuff, then it goes right into the amp. If I am doing any parallel or series wiring, I will do it at the amp terminals. raytard
x2 on wire through box with goo and parallel at amp if needed simplest is best, no need to complicate things with nuts and bolts and washers and shit Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now) Team DC
