Double Baffle on the back of a box?? Help

Recommended Posts

Would the sound or the output of my box change if I put a second sheet of 3/4" MDF on the back of my box to make a amp rack sort of thing. Has anyone ever done this? I don't really wanna glue it and screw it down on the back before I know.

Thanks

Okay so the sound or anything won't change? Will it be louder if I set it in the trunk with the sub & port forward?

just an FYI,

"Baffle" refers to the face of the box in which the woofers mount.

anyway, adding another layer to the back would strengthen the box even more. This is a very good thing.

Youre good; I triple baffled my box for a fi btl 15. And it threw the tuning off by about .4 or so, from 33.01 to 33.41 . I wouldn't worry too much about it.

i used to think a band pass was something you were around your neck or something.

if you triple baffled it, the sub should be less into the box, increasing the box volume, therefore lowering the tuning.. unless i'm reading that wrong...

baffle was flush with the original shape and dimensions of the box. the baffles took up .4 cubic feet of displacement, so it made the tuning go up

not if the added layer is inside the box.
