at 2 ohms? I though W7s has some crazy immpedence like 1.5 or 3. Anyway, to answer ur question, Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bdCP, Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bd, and Alpine MRP-M1000

The w7s are D1.5, so he'd either have .75 or 3 ohms. So your cousin is already asking for something stupid.

I'd suggest a RF or Sundown 1000ish watts @ 1 ohm sub and wire it to .75 ohms. The w7's warranty is voided at 1500w, and I've been told they won't take much more than that without blowing, so be careful with which amp he chooses. Wiring it that low will give more power, which could, in turn, be too much for the w7 and blow it.

that seems really dumb.. why dual 1.5's. if someone could explain this logic to me ide appreciate it

I believe they do it because JL's slash series amps are rated to do the same power at 1, 2, and 3 ohms. So by making it a D1.5 sub, you can wire it to 3 ohms on a 1000/1 and still get 1000w. It's a way to get people to buy their amps because most other amps do crap power at 3 and 4 ohms and if you wire it to .75 ohms, a lot of amps won't be able to handle it.

It says 3 ohms here and I thought they had dual voice coils. I think that would either make them Dual 1.5 or Dual 6 ohms

The RF amplifiers don't do rated @ 2 ohms. :fyi: But you're right about the voice coil config of the W7s. They're available in svc or dvc 1.5 or 3 ohm models depending on which driver you purchase.

OP, if your cousin has the cash tell him to check out the Alpine PDX1.1000 or JL 1000/1. Both do rated at varying ohm loads and both are extremely nice.

You can't fix stupid

There's nothing dumb about it.
