blcrocker
Ok so I have been bumping this same amp for about 2 years now. Its been a beast. Recently though its been turning off for some reason while I'm driving around. Generally I could just jiggle the cables a little bit and it would turn on. But the other day it just stopped working and won't turn on anymore. I've re-ran all the cables and wires and even changed my ground location thinking that was the problem. Still nothing. So I decided, it must be the remote wire. I have the remote wire hooked up with with the headunit on the same remote coming from the inside of the dash. I'm not sure if this would be a problem or not. TLEJ
Make SURE your ground is GOOD. and the ground wire is bigger than the power.. Check for a pinch in your radio wire. See if it's hot when on.
blcrocker
Think it would be a good idea to check with a volt meter to see if there is voltage going through the wires, even the remote? devil4u2c
one quick way to see if it is the remote wire is just use a small jumper wire from the hot to the remote hookup and see if it turns on.
blcrocker
So just stick a wire connecting the pos input to the remote input? Vidmaster
If it is some internal electrical problem, then you obviously won't be able to fix it... Is your amplifier mounted on the box? From what I hear, that can cause it to fail internally more often than if it isn't, not sure if that is a myth or not though Good luck. blcrocker
Yeah, it's mounted on the back of the box with rubber grommets. That was something else i was thinking of, what if something came loose on the inside. But if that other trick doesnt work than I'm gonna take it apart and see whats wrong with it. blcrocker
Alright so i took a volt meter to it to check what wires were getting voltage and not. The pos and neg read 14.2v while the truck was on. At first when i checked the remote it wasn't even reading out on the meter. Than i checked it a second time and the amp turned on and started working. I dont really understand how/ why it started working when i hadnt even done anything but tested the volts. I think somehow it just needed a small jump between the remote and ground. But it's all working again. Thanks for the tips guys.
