Moofs
So I have a clarion DXZ275MP head unit with one set of pre amp outs. I am getting a 4 channel amp, I'm gonna bridge 2 channels to run a 10 inch sub and give the other 2 channels to the front speakers, one to each. I called crutchfield and was told I need to buy two RCA Y-adaptors. Is this right? Reason I ask is bc if the head unit only has one set, the way he said it is ,that I put these on the amp. How does that solve anything? I know I need two RCA patch cables for the 4 channel. devil4u2c
yeah you put the rca splitter on the end of your rca run then put two short ones off of the splitter going to the amp.

Guest
alot of 4 channel amps have an output RCA section. just plug in the RCAs coming from the headunit into the Front side of the amp for example (front or rear dont matter) then take a short short run of rca and put it from the output rca's to the rear rca's. exactly what i did for my highs amp. Moofs
Thanks guys! I just wanted to make sure I needed to buy 2 of these Y splitters in the first place. I kinda understand but not 100%. But I'll order them. Thanks! actually if anyone has a pic of how this would be setup that be awesome. I dont understand what I'd do with the 2nd RCA patch cable. I know thats why I need the splitter but I don't see why it wouldn't go on the headunit to create "two pre amp out puts." djdew23
if you buy y spliters you might want to buy a line driver as well.your head unit is only 2v rca when you split that into 4 each channels your going to get a half volt and that = low sound out put Quote Alpine IDA-X200 Car Digital Media Receiver AMP = power acoustik cpt1 2200d SUBS = 3 re audio 10" voodoo fuse and distribution blocks Voodoo Power Wire Voodoo RCA Leads
AKBass
get 2 single female to dual male splitters put the at the end of your rca's directly into the amp, then theres no need for more patch cables and less chance of picking up noise through them. thats not the best way but it will be the cheapest. Some amps also have a 2ch or 4ch input selector dont know about yours though. Moofs
So I'm just making sure I have everything I need for this install. Will there be anything else I need for this besides the two Y-splitters? Just to rephrase it. The head unit I have has 1 pre amp out and I need to install a 4 channel amp. 2 channel bridged to power the sub and the remaining 2 go only to the front speakers. While the rears are powered off the deck. Will these Y splitters result in what I need to do this right and have everything work? hdorre
I gotta q: if u have a 4 channel amp, does each channel hve to have only one speaker? Nope, a channel could have multiple speakers as long as the impedence is correct Quote On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread
