i have a kac-9105d and its not a bad amp for a basic setup; i tested mine and it does 1300 peak which calcs to a lil over 900rms...it will work but i would upgrade it later

lol...how do you test an amp to have peak power? i'd like to see how you tested this. that amp has 60 amps worth of fusing, so that means 60*14v = 840 watts (at 100% efficiency which is impossible). so 840*.7 (70% efficiency) = 588 watts of actual power....math > you.

a phone is different from an amplifier. its still the same phone just faster...oh yea and what about those heat problems fucking up the screens and discoloring the white back cover?

well i already have the kenwood so i figured it would be worth a shot because the sub is only going to cost me 230 plus shipping. and 60 bucks in mdf i figured i wouldnt have a whole lot to lose and if i needed another amp then i could always get one later down the road. what would you guys suggest instead of the kenwood? ive never been one to throw way more rms at a sub than its rated for but ive also never had a really well built sub from the sounds of things.

its always better to have an amp that outputs more than what the woofer is rated, example, 1000rms woofer on a 2000rms amplifier. the amp has alot more headroom so the sound will be cleaner instead of having a 1000rms woofer on a 1000rms amplifier.

what to suggest? how much are you willing to spend.

probably in the 3-500 range i think would be an ok estimate. Im sure theres something out there considering the amp i have now cost only 179 new.

You could get a zx1500.1 on hifisoundconnection.com for $400. Its a refurb but that's good power for that sub imo

edit: my bad i was thinkin a bl. you could run a zx1000.1 pretty comfortably. you can always find good deals on kicker online. and yes they are underrated. my 1500 does 1712

and im pretty sure there is an adjustable subsonic filter. or maybe im wrong but theres a switch labeled ISF and it was off for my kicker L5 but it has a 15hz and 25hz option.

kranny i was responding to the zx1500.1 comment because i know they usually have a higher rated power kinda like rockford amps. I do understand what you mean you want to have wiggle room so you get clean undistorted power to the sub but i would think a zx1500.1 would be pushing it on a stock fi ssd.
