kenwood kac-9104d and fi ssd 18

hey guys this is my first post here and was just wondering what you think about this setup. I have an 01 yukon and this is going to be my first big system i have had a couple jl 12s and a kicker l5 12 in my old civic hatchback. I have the kenwood amp already which says it does 900rms at 2 ohms and is 1 ohm stable although id like to just run it at 2 ohms for heat reasons. just wondering if you think it would be enough for the fi ssd probably gonna run around 8 cubes @32-33hz sub up port back since it seems to produce the best output in my vehicle. specs on the sub seem to be fairly similar to the output of the amp so i think ill be ok but if not maybe some suggestions?

ya a lot of people say that but never give a reason why? to me it seems like everything would work fairly well. But im kinda new to the not so mainstream stuff since thats all i can get my hands on easily where i live.

i have a kac-9105d and its not a bad amp for a basic setup; i tested mine and it does 1300 peak which calcs to a lil over 900rms...it will work but i would upgrade it later

ya i think you have the newer version of my amp it looks identical just a diff model number it would most likely be a temporary amp just to get me by until i got something a little better. just wanted to try this out for a budget build first. i figure with all the room i have the 18 would be a good fun way to start using it.

yeah its just in a different casing...it will work, but wont bring the sub to life

I think the amp will do pretty good on it, plus your planning on building the box to the larger side of specs, which will definitely help with performance for the power you have, you dont have to throw 3xRms at a sub for it to sound and perform good.

It doesn't have an adjustable subsonic filter. Keep that in mind..you cannot tune that enclosure any higher then 28Hz for it to be effective.

I was down at my local shop the other day and we were looking at the guts of one of my Powerbass amps, We pulled the backs off of a kenwood kac, Powerbass 1k and a Powerbass 5k and put them side by side. The kenwood amp was empty. it had almost no guts and what it did have was thin and chincy. It looked like a desert. On the powerbass's there wasn't an empty spot anywhere.

That being said my first amp was a kenwood. It did well for me considering. But for 20 bucks more why not get something substantial.

If you compare the original iPhone to a 3GS the 3gs has smaller components but it still works better (faster, 3g, more memory)
