AssKicker Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Alright so I am looking to upgrade my amplifier soon to a DAT 2500.1 or a Sundown 2500. My current alt is 150-160A and supports a 1600 watt amp pretty well with no light dimming or drops below 12.5v. What should I get to support the new amp? I wanted to start with a XS D1200 under the hood, and then add one to the back. Please chime in!
Symmetry9898 Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 when i did electrical on my trailblazer i added a D3400 under the hood and 2 D975's in the rear to support a T20001bd on a stock alt and it helped alot but i still had alot of voltage drop at full tilt. After i got my alt, im charging like a mofo, i rarely drop below 14v unless im playing for an extended amount of time at low frequency. Please chime in! id say just go with the 270amp from dc power, therefore you can have that steady 14v with good batteries. AssKicker Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 Alright, I'll try and do that. My only issue would be me putting in short ram CAI's and having the larger alt interfere. So can I just get that new alt, and run a D1200 up front and be good to go?
