thx1138 Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 So I'm following the instructions to a T. I downloaded a few 50 hz tones from youtube and burned them on to a cd. I connected my multimeter where the I had the leads to the subs hooked up and I have my volume on 20/35 and when I run the test I get -00.3v.... When off it reads 0 so I know that's right. I set all my eq on head unit to 0 I tried changing the sub level on the head unit and I tried different adjustments of the gain on the amp and the two other filters and no matter what combination the multimeter still just reads -00.3v. So I tested the multimeter on some batteries real quick and it reads them just fine. I don't get it because I just had my sub hooked up and it was bumping. Help? Thanks. Oh yeah according to the chart, 400w rms @ 1 ohm should be giving me 20v
Guest Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 is the meter on AC or DC volts. should be on AC. jiggle the wires and such when the meter is on the amp, i have to to that on mine to get a reading cause of a complete shit volt meter.

It says to turn them off during testing and readjust them at the end but then it would change the volt going to the sub... I also have this "remote bass level control" which is a dial that controls the loudness which also affects the multimeter reading. Should I keep it on high while testing so that way I can never turn it up past what I set the gain too?

Should I keep it on high while testing so that way I can never turn it up past what I set the gain too? the LPF should be set to about 80hz, and the subsonic to a little below whatever your box tuning is. that remote bass level control is most likely a bass booster, so dont use it, keep it on 0 or unplugged.

Thanks man, I really appreciate the help. The box is just a cheapo sealed 1.3 cube ft for a single 12 I got off amazon. So I don't know the subsonic goes from 10-50hz. Eh, it will hold me over for now. Besides it's better to learn with some cheap gear rather than blow a bunch of money and screw it all up. All hail hipno-toad
