Custom box not loud enough

Hey everyone, i recently built a slotted box for 2 kicker cvr 12". Since the kicker website doesnt provide dimensions, they only provide specifications that the kickers need to have. They call for the air space to be 1.75 cu. ft. When i built the box i used the dimensions off of Jl audio's website and built the box for 2 JL W3's because they are similar to the kickers. After the box was complete i almost kicked myself because i didnt take the dpth of the speaker into consideration. Therefore, i dont think its as much airspace as 1.75. The box sounds clean though dont get me wrong, but would there be that much of a difference if i made the box bigger? It sounds awesome now but could it sound better? What do you think?

yes it can make that much of a difference. and remember your only using 2 kicker cvrs. Its not gonna be stupid loud, and also i looked at your link. you built a top firing box for a trunk? thats a no no in most cases.

Nah its not an up-firing box, i faced the box up so my teachers and the enterprise lady could take pictures and stuff. It's normally faced outwards. And plus the box is so damn big (even in a grand marquis lol) that if it was up-firing the ports would be blocked by the trunk lid. Im also powering the two cvr's with a 1000/1 JL audio amp. The input sensitivity is just about halfway up. Anywhere further than that they get distorted. And i also just recently put some polyfill in there to help. It made a little difference but not a whole lot.

tune the amps to proper ac voltage... see the guides in the forums.. also whats your sub sonic and HPF set to? what kind of headunit are you using? are you using proper RCA's? is your ground bolted down to the chassis (not the seat belt)?

if its a 4-door sedan try putting the back seats down so the bass can get into the cabin... it has to be able to get into the cabin somehow some way if you wanna hear it. so you can cut a hole in your rear deck.. use some dynamat to keep the bass inside the car... i built my box not as wide, and a little longer so that there was around 4 inches of space (on each side) between the sides of the car and the box, so that pressure from the trunk could leak into the cabin.

I believe subsonic and infrasonic are the same thing. so in this case my Infrasonic filter is shut off. I was told by the guys at the local car audio shop to leave it alone. The Lp filter slope is at 12db right now. Im running a kenwood head unit. The Rca's are by monster cable. Since the amp is a 2 channel, i ran the subs in parallel. Then i got Y splitter for the rca's. And the ground is bolted to the bottom of my trunk panel. I cut a "x" out in the carpet and bolted the ground right down, away from the carpet. Also i was wondering if you guys were familiar with JL's amps and settings. The polarity (normal/reversed) Infrasonic filter, theres a setting called "Q", and the center frequency. Im not sure what those all are.

first off if its a 1000/1 its not a 2 channel amp so already you've wired something wrong on a false pretense, not that it matters because that amp will have the same power whichever the ohm load. polarity you want it at normal.

yeah, thank you guys for the help. And i know i didnt research enough lol. Im 18 and working at a healthcare center. Been working full time since 15 and saving up for a system. TRUST ME, this isnt my idea of a nasty system but im makin the best of what i got. My buddy sold me the used kickers for 100 bucks. The amp on the other hand is a friend of mines, hes lettin me borrow it. (hes the kid in the article with the chinstrap) He has 4 10" JL audio w3's, and the 1000/1 was powering those. But he got a new car so he gutted his jeep. And even if i had my ideal system, it wouldnt be in the back of a 2000 grand marquis, thats for damn sure.

haha but just look around, there are good deals everwhere on amazing stuff...
