BJD3 Posted June 30, 2010 Report Share Posted June 30, 2010 (edited) SEE POST 8 Definitely going with DC. I'm getting a 12, and have about 1200 watts on hand from a DDM1A. Should I underpower the XL or "over power" the level 4? Eventually upgrades will happen, but for the time being, all I'll have is 1200 watts (stock electrical is holding me back!). I have searched, but I haven't found a thread with someone running the power I am. I mainly listen to rap and metal, but other genres aren't uncommon. I'm really looking for something that can manhandle the low end, so it will probably get a ported box tuned to the low thirties. A single 3 would take that kind of power? I've been leaning toward the 4 myself since I don't have a specific time table in mind for when I'll upgrade. Either way, I'll go with the level 4 now and if I decide to upgrade later, I can add another 1200 watts and another level 4. Thanks for the input folks. Right now i'm leaning toward 1.6 before woofer displacement (site suggests 1.5 for daily) tuned to 28 (I wanna get low). I may build another box later, but I want to start here.
