The shop where he bought all of the equipment were going to charge him bigtime for the the install yet he save some with me. According to JL you need to go to a dealer and have them okay the box then your warrenty is still valid. I did the same thing with my 10w3v2's i got a design from JL audio, and i built the box and carried it to the local dealer in Nashville and had them clear the box so my warrenty was still good. Its too late now, because he's not going to pay for a new box. I really wanted to make a ported box facing up like a CRX style. Oh well, I did the best that I can do with the rest of the install given the three days I had to do it. As a matter of fact, I did think the same, but for some odd reason he gave them the go ahead to build the box before I even knew about it. He came and picked it up. You should of seen the look on his face when he heard it. It surpassed his expectations by a million. I'm glad he was happy and look forward to doing many more as long as people are willing to spend money on good equipment in my area. Everyone wants something for nothing and it definitely doesn't work like that. You can use any ideas you want. Well, the way I see it to me the most important part of the install is having everything mounted good. I've seen so many amps, boxes, and a other equipment that weren't mounted sturdy that came apart and got damaged due to driving carelessly or for whatever reasons. Wires getting yanked and so on and so on. I'm just thinking ahead and taking the extra mile and time to be safe.
