setings for mids and highs amp

i need help, this is my first time amping components and need help on what to set the filters at and stuff. any rule of thumb i should follow

99 Toyota tacoma

- Alpine CDA 9887 head unit

- Rockford Mids & Highs

- Soundstreme TRX Mids & High amp

- Hifonics 2010D amp

- 15 Kicker L7

- 4 cube fiberglass box at 33 Hz

- optima yellow top

- big 3

- Knu wiring

- future vision 8K hids

- 36 square Ft damp pro with tweaker kit

soon to come

-1 more optima yellow top

bass boost all the way down, gains by ear (any distortion, back off), low pass at about 85-100, and im not too sure about high pass. I generally leave mine at about 5-6k. But that's just my personal taste.

you know the human ear cant detect distortion till its like 10% right?. and why would you put the high pass at 5-6khz? doesnt your components come with crossovers?

Set your high pass to about100 and you won't have to worry about then getting damaged by low notes. It's also a good idea to get a stand alone crossover like a kicker or audiocontrol, because their cutoff slope is higher then your radio or amp.

yeah, they have built in x overs.

i have RF power 1652-s they have a sperate crossover, and a alpine 9887 H.U that has tones of setting so what else?

Doesn't the 9887 have a decent EQ? Why not set both amps to "full open" and let the HU do the crossing over?

The gains would still have to be set correctly (obviously).

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.

full open? yea the 9887 has a shit ton of options.
