Decaf Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 no music is 0db loud rarely is music -3db loud most music is -10 to -3db loud... thus i put ~50 songs peak db in a calculator and took the average, which was -4.6db cheap multimeters are geared towards 50-60hz since most are bought for household uses, but an amp should remain linear as well as the meter, so any tone could be used if you have a spl/burp vehicle most use a tone the same frequency as their cars peak 0db is stupid, ur system will be quiet -3db is fine, and works great for most people -4.6 helps with quieter songs -5 is what Rockford Fosgate suggests to use when u buy an Rf360.2 (@40hz) my 2cents
