ok. so i've got a factory system i really would like to keep. but i would like to add a sub. and i have no clue what i need. seeing as the amp i'm gonna get only has rca inputs. and my factory head unit does not. i'm not looking for an equalizer. i just need something good that will output bass to my amp. i'm just adding a sub and amp to system. no more speakers. and i also was told i would have to unhook one of my speakers to install something like this. is that true?

i mean theres really no certain brand, all of'em are basically the same and prices vary from where you buy, so just google line output converter

i wouldnt spend more than $30-$40 on one personally.

and yea if you want the "best" go with audio control like he said

but i've been using some off-brand for 3 years and no problems yet

yea...just get a LOC...i actually just used the one below on a recent install

you just need to tap into the rear speakers to hook it up

two gray wires go to positive/negative on one speaker

two black wires go to the positive negative on the other speaker

and there is one wire to ground it

(again...just splice into the speaker wire to do this, not unhook them)

as far as a remote turn on goes....you can either run one straight from the battery and put a switch on it

or do like i do

just get a dmm out...and test some wires under the dash.

-turn the key in the on position so everything has power

-put positive lead into a wire, i usually use one under the dash (try a solid pink wire first, or pink with a colored stripe)

-wire should read 12volts or so (if it doesnt, pick another wire)

-turn the car off

-put positive lead back into the same wire

-it should read 0 volts

-you have now found a ignition source to tap into for the amp remote wire

(you will have to have the negative lead of the dmm grounded somewhere on the vehicle during this)
