Over the past few months i have noticed that my hearing has become much...different so to say. my ears start to hurt when someone is talking loudly or talking normally right next to me but my tweeters in my car dont even phase me. the carwash where i work has these ridiculous blowers that are so loud you have to shout to a person right next to you to talk to them. for the first few months at work i didnt wear ear plugs (ouch) and i was right next to the fan's blowing air (i always wear plugs now). i think that period of not wearing plugs has affected my hearing quite bad. sometimes i cant even understand what some people say on the phone or even right next to me so i say "what?". even ask Lem, i was on the phone with him the other day and i had to have him repeat a few things. most of my friends also say that my woofers are quite loud but to me i barely feel anything and what i hear at full tilt is the rattles of my rear deck and spare tire well and various other things through the "minimum" bass so to say.

can anyone else vouch for me that this is happening to them?

That is odd. I've beaten myself up with the car and I'm consistently around 85+dB at work most days with our booster pumps, but I've only experienced what you are talking about a few times.

So you're saying it hurts when they talk, but you can't understand them?

on the phone for example i would need someone to repeat something sometimes. but in person its quite easy for me to understand them but when they talk loud-ish and directly at me it hurts my ears but i still understand them.

the guy I work for said something similar several years ago. He used to have a banging system years back. He went to an ear doctor complaining of similar symptoms. Doc looked in his ear and said he had a large amount of wax near the eardrum. He told him the bass pushes the crud in your ears closer to the eardrum, when it gets close enough, certain sounds will hurt. Boss man said he used some of that crap from the drugstore about 4 or 5 times and finally got relief. In a nutshell, go to an ear doctor.

God damn its hot today. My balls are stuck to my leg.

now that i think about it, i had the exact same problem, just never knew that was the reason. i just instinctively used the ear wax solution assuming i had a build up or somethin and a shitton came out lol. i used the liquid you pour in your ear. it takes longer to get it all out, but its much safer than diggin into your ear

a local hearing aid shop was running some kind of special a while back where they would do a free ear exam. Part of the exam was them looking in your ear with some kind of camera device. I wish I would have gone. Kind of curious what all is in there.
