NcHalfrican
What mandates how much port area you should have? I'm trying to find what amount of port area I should shoot for with a 10" TC Sounds OEM.

fecupe2001
Well, depends on some factors, i would say the most important and crucials would be box size and power!! There´s a simple rule that says 12-16 SQ of port per cubic feet for slot ports and 8-12 SQ of port per cubic feet for aeroports because they are more efficient, that "rule" isn´t real at all, but gives you a starting point!! There´s a couple of guys here that says port area doesn´t affect output, score on the meter and stuff like that, i don´t debate with them because they feel like they know everything, but for example, you can try a box for a 10" sub 1.5 cubic feet after displacement, single 4" port and then change it to a 6" and you´ll see the score changes!! I haven´t work with that sub, but i love how 10´s pound on boxes between 1.5-1.75 cubic feet after displacement, and 22 -24SQ of port Quote I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. AUDIOADDICT02
That´s a nice page, also, youn can use Torres Calculator, it´s proven to work awesome! Well usually the numbers i get off that page according to the sub's xmax and box tuning, i input those numbers in torres' calc. As a matter of fact, I built an enclosure for a 12" off those two programs today!
