Speaker terminals on marine box

Just ordered some hardware. Gonna have the choice between some stainless steel wing nuts or some beautiful chrome acorn nuts. Also ordered enough hardware for my two DVC Pyles that I should be getting some time this week. Pics when I get the hardware...

Where should I mount these things? In my boat I use to have the sub facing up. This way it blocks the coaxial speaker the least. I'll mount the sub how it will be in the box tomorrow and take pictures of different set ups. I will either mount the terminals on top of the sub box, or on the same side as the sub if they are pretty enough. I'm hoping these chrome acorns look good against some nice black marine carpet or maybe a nice black paint. We shall see, I'll mess with some finishes after I seal the box up with resin.

Resin the box in and out also to save the timber from rot etc. Stainless would be great for the marine enviroment as it has great corrosion resistance.

yeah gettin some resin, thinking about either bondo and smothing the box out and painting it black, or going with some nice thing black marine carpet so the chrome acorn nuts really stick out. Probably end up with just carpet since I havent done the whole bondo/paint thing before and dont want to try on this job.

Got the tracking info on the hardware! Will be getting here this Friday! I will be posting pics of the chrome. Also, gonna try and get some resin and carpet this week so that I'm ready to go when the hardware gets here. Update on friday. Also, should I post a build thread for this? This is for my boat. And theres a few other things I am working on. Eventually I want some Kicker coaxes and a new dash.

all the boxes i've built [4] have holes with wire through it and sealed up.

Holes with the wire strait though? I had that on the original box that someone else built, and eventually just the slightest tug on the wire broke the seal for good. Not to mention, it didn't look very cool or clean. Just a black wire coming out the back with a bunch of old silicon caulk around it. I am trying to get this boat looking pretty good before I head up back to school.

Any suggestions on attaching the carpet to the resin after it solidifies? The last box it appears that the person simply applied the carpet to the still sticky resin. When peeling back the carpet, large chunks of resin were obviously bonded with the carpet. I am sure this is not the way to do it. Let me know what tyou think.

Thanks

I got the new hardware including my chrome nuts. Tried out a few set ups on a piece of scrap wood. Thinking about using T nuts tho for a cleaner look and so my bolts dont fall through when you take the nuts off on the outside. Heres some pics

Will be mounting on the box soon. Gonna do it on the top of the box where the woofer is mounted

boatsubboxwithsubmounted2.jpg

Thinking about doing it on the left side since that is the port side of the boat and will be out of the way but still visible and nice.

Gotta love the chrome. Let me know what you think

Gonna port more pics when I get the carpet and resin
