moetpoppin
Ok, a few of you may have seen my previous posts on this subject. I ordered two Pyle 15"s off eBay about a month or more ago now. They were $38 dollars shipped to the door for the pair (cant pass that up) so I jumped on it and well, now I have two 15" Pyles. EDIT: The box is 6.3 cubic feet, tuned to about 35 hz, and the subs are wired in to 4ohms, and are only seeing about 200 watts from my 4ch amp in bridged mode. I posted a few threads asking questions about what volume/tuning of a box would best suit these to make them sound good, I know they are crap, but thats the point. I got them for less than $40, and wanted to practice my box building with them. This is my third box that I've built. The first was a two chambered sealed box for my two RF 12" P3s. It was pretty easy, but I used 1/2" MDF and put them in a chamber of 1 foot3 each. 1 foot3 is the recommended volume for these subs from RF. The second was a box that I built for my boat's 10" RF. I put it in a 0.63 foot3 sealed and resin coated box. Right now this sub is in my room hooked up to a car battery and 4ch amp for my laptop to jam to The box for my Pyles was my first attempt at a ported box and it seems to have come out pretty good. I will post the pictures below. Please keep the shit talking about the pyles to a minimum. I am looking for feedback on my craftsmanship. You wont be breaking the ice on the fact that the subs are a "Pyle of crap" lol Anyways its about time, the box has been done for several days now and I started building it more than a week ago. School started and I have been finding no time to get up on here and post anything big like this. Here are the pics tercelchris pointed out how small the magnets on these things are these are the picture of when I got them Day One, Friday night Here is the pic of my garage after cutting all the wood to size, then I had to cut the pieces to length Sawdust FTW, this pile tripled after I used my router Finally, all pieces cut to length I start to mock up the wood to check for fit Here are a few pics for my friends to show them the size of a box for a 10 vs the size of a box for two 15s haha continued in next post TY Moet poppin', hoe hoppin', aint no stoppin' B.I.G. poppa, I'm a bad boy Party and Bullshit - The Notorious B.I.G. moetpoppin
I was building this box for myself, I spent about 4 hours cutting the wood this day. If I was building for someone else, I could have finished this box in an afternoon as there was not much to it. But since I was building it for myself, my employer demanded that I take many many breaks inbetween What can I say? August in Miami isn't the best time of year to spend hours working in your garage, 150% humidity, 90* weather, and mosquitoes out the ass. I love working on stuff in winter in Miami, nothing like 60* weather Day Two, Saturday Here I have started plotting out my circles. I wanted to use a router for a clean cut, but was obviously using the wrong bit. It took about 2 hours for the first circle since I could only take off about 1/8" of wood with every pass. Once I was started, I just wanted to finish so I kept using this bullshit router bit for the rest of the time. My second hole I used the jig saw, and smoothed out the edges with the router. Unfortunately there are no pics of this because I was really pissed, and covered in mountains of sawdust which I did not want getting near the camera. Here are some pics of the subs in the new holes to mock up the fit. Day Three, Sunday Sunday was the big day for me. I mocked up all my wood for the last time, and started screwing the pieces together. Here are the pictures of the insides of the box stood up so that I can screw the tops and bottoms on continued in next post TY Moet poppin', hoe hoppin', aint no stoppin' B.I.G. poppa, I'm a bad boy Party and Bullshit - The Notorious B.I.G.
