pheint_1
do you think that for a 1krms setup for two 12's, staples would be fine? skittlesRgood
the screws and brad nails just hold the edges tight together while the glue dries. once its dry, the fasteners dont do much. if you use staples then you need to add pressure before shooting them in, they wont create enough. so you either clamp one side at a time then use the staples or you stand on the box, this obviously only works on a couple places. screws will clamp the 2 pieces together much better and form a stronger bond. wL<3bass
I use to use screws but its a huge waste of time... brad nails, glue, and clamps ftw... and double wood where you need to.... I've built alot of enclosures and have had 0 failures... Some pretty big ones too, such as 2 15s 3kwrms+ 8+ cuft (10.5 external) and have 0 flex or blowout problems. Get some clamps as long as they work they work doesn't matter the cost... When I glue my wood I make sure to use a paint brush and smear it all the way across and then clamp it down TIGHT and wipe away the excess then I put a bradnail every 1.5-4" Quote Vehicle: 1997 S10 Blazer 4dr 4X4 Exterior: Rear End Bagged, Black Grill, Lifted 2" Amplifiers: Rockford Fosgate T8004 & T10001bd Batteries: 2 Stinger SPV35, Kinetik HC2400 Electrical: Big 3, DC Power 290amp Alternator w/ MLA at 15.5v Enclosure: 4.2 ft³ @ 33Hz 84sq.in. of port (20sq.in. per cube) Headunit: Eclipse CD3200 w/ 80G iPod Mids/Highs: Rockford T152s (a-pillars), Rockford T162s (doors) Subwoofers: 1 15" Fi BL Fully Loaded Wire: All 1/0g Kicker Hyperflex My YouTube Videos My Fiberglass A-Pillar Build My "Seamless" Looking Box Build My DD1508 T-Line Bandpass Build "Seamless" w/ Acrylic Windows (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Stealth 8" Fiberglass Build (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Build For A Friend's '08 Cobalt 15" BL Sealed Off From The Trunk My feedback/references...
