And I also wanted to get some real opinions about capacitors (posts that they are garbage are nice, but I was wondering if they are ever actually the right thing to do. A lot of people say they are garbage or to get rid of them but I don't see a lot of people that like them Right now my setup is two Optima D34's, I have done the big three, and I don't have a lot of problems with dimming or anything but The alternator is still stock (160amp), until I can get the money to upgrade. Until I get a high output alternator will a capacitor help ease the charging burden on the stock one? What are the pros and cons of keeping the cap in even with a better alternator? Thanks for any input. How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?
55437Audio Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 I would say your probably better to save up and buy a new ho alt sooner then later. Caps don't really work all that well. Or they havnt for me maybe I havnt had the right set ups for them but it didn't seem to do anything. clouduz Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Caps are only beneficial if you have little to no voltage drop. the ideal situation for a cap is to smooth the voltage ripples. I would say leave out the cap for now, just one more thing your alt has to charge.
