UnderLoK
You want to fuse on each wire, and fuse lower than what the wire can carry. The ampacity of the wire depends on its gauge, length, and material. So gather the data on your particular wire, then research how much current each wire can carry at your batteries voltage. And fuse below that rating. Or do what I do and dont use fuses at all. I drive around with 0awg cutters just incase. I wasn't sure how it would react and you guys cleared that up. The whole point of asking was to improve my existing rear fusing which looks like this... I'll just have to come up with some more room it looks like or hope that 600a of fusing would pop before the wire goes up. The only area I'm worried about is where it comes into the truck (inside that is) and if it went up there it's only a foot to the rear bus so in that small of a run (rated at 375a at 20ft I believe) the wire could handle 600a without burning up I would think (famous last words).
