Rickdod3
Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on something... Alright so the amp im going to be using is a Rockford t1500-1bd and the score sheet on it says its rated: 749@4ohm, 1230@2ohm, and 1820@1ohm Would a DC XL 18 be too much for this amp? The specs say its 1500 rms if im not mistaken...I just dont want to push my amp to much, and I didnt want to go anything lower that the XL cause im planning a big power upgrade later this year and was going to do 2 of the 18's. So yeah, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Quote Audio Technix Online Customer Service Specialist [email protected]
TeamHT
Would be just fine. The amp pushes the sub, not the other way around, lol Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Rickdod3
Yeah im aware that the amps push the subs, but I dont want to under-power the sub and possibly mess it up Quote Audio Technix Online Customer Service Specialist [email protected]
2nasty
U won't under power a 1500 watt sub with 1800 watts
Kranny
Yeah im aware that the amps push the subs, but I dont want to under-power the sub and possibly mess it up you cannot, i repeat, CANNOT harm a woofer by underpowering it. this is such a common piece of misinformation because audio noobies run 500rms amplifiers on 1000rms woofers think its not loud and turn the gain and bassboost up (which you should never touch btw) and cause the amplifier to clip and burn up the voice coils on the subwoofer. if you set your gains correctly you will NEVER have a problem with a woofer blowing. Thank you, that is that answer I was looking for, something with some insightful information. My friend has a o-scope I can use to set my gains on that amp so I dont set the amp to where it clips... I was just wondering and hoping the sub would sound okay and not be harmed by underpowering it (which I now you cant harm it unless its getting a "dirty" signal from the amp) It should sound pretty decent I think. TeamHT
lmao. Your nicer than me... I wish I woulda saw this first Lol, well thank you. Maybe its because I already face palmer myself to sleep last night. Guy wanted some serious amp power for his 2 xplode 12s but didn't want to spend more than $80....$80? So I offered an older alpine 400 watt amp and he looked at me just had this look....he said....his subs will blow the amp out! They do 1200 watts each, no way a 400 watt amp could handle the power. O_O But apparently the OP knows now that the subs can't overpower the amp, lol Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

iceman1575
Sometimes I want to kick people in the face who think 2 12" Pioneer's from walmart, or 4 old 15" Pyle subs in a cheap built box are louder than my two Alpine Type S 12's ported + MRP-M650 amp. I hear them all day saying "GET A REAL SYSTEM" yet when I pull up beside them and they try to bump, I turn my shit up and they quickly go down, and fall behind fast. Sorry, my shit isn't the greatest, but I believe what my dad says, and he thinks it should be legal to attach TOW missiles onto your front bumper to shoot at stupid people. Quote POTATO!
