Loosing power ?

Sony's are good subs for the money and pound if you put them in the right box. I had 2 xplode 12's until a couple of weeks ago when I upgraded and was happy with them . Definitely check out Alpine or Pioneer. Both company's make very solid HU's for under $300. It would be worth lookin at something that has high and low pass filters or just high pass. Whats your budget for components?

Finally ! someone who knows how good these subs are for the money ! I am very happy with mine. I have my xplod 12s in sealed enclosures, do you recommend a different enclosure that would make them hit harder ? And i believe i have decided to get a pioneer HU. Just not sure which one yet, and im wanting to spend under 200 on components because i obviously have to include price of adding an amp to power them. Plus was wondering if a set of good components will give me some much needed mid-bass or do i need to look into some small 8 inch subs for my rear deck to take care of my mid-bass ?

Ok, going to get some flack for this but, i read a couple of reviews for the Sony Xplod components. They got very high ratings. So maybe ?

the best bet in YOUR situation would be to get a multimeter and follow that guide rebel posted.

you can add that 2nd amp if its the same exact brand and model as the one you are using now then its just a matter of wiring the woofers correctly and tuning gains again.

On your desk there should be a sub level turn that all the way up. Like on my friends kenwood deck it goes from -15 to 0 to +15

So you are running the amp at 4 ohms, but does it do 600 watts at 4 ohms? Or is 600 only what it does at 2 ohms? You have to use the power that the amp puts out at the certain ohm load, not the highest that it can do. Otherwise you will be clipping it.

Nah, I mean his amp most likely does 600 watts at either 1 or 2 ohms, and he is setting it with the 600 watts 4 ohm number. But it should be set using the 300 watts 4 ohm number for example, since the higher the ohm load the less power output.
