Box Design For 2 18" XL

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone im currently in the process of designing a box for 2 18" XL's and I was wondering if someone could help me out...

Its going to be a "wall" in my jeep, not a permanent wall but its going to have trim panels around it to give it the look of a wall...anywho I did the dimensions on it today and it came out to... 40" Wide, 35" Tall and 29" Deep...that right there comes out to 17.8 Cubic Feet...Im planning on doing a port on the box and I want it tuned around 33-35hz... Im pretty much at a stand still right now and I figured id ask some people that know what the DC subs need. So yeah Id really appreciate any help I could get.

Thanks again, Rick

What kind of power u going to use? and hows your electrical? I had my xls in 13 cubes with 16 sqin a cube tuned to 32hz running off of 7000w. sounded great i would go with bigger port since you have the space and tune to low 30s. should be devastating with alot of power

Right now the power is the only issue...Im having trouble getting ahold of iraggi for my alt...and Ive tried mechman and he doesnt have one to fit my jeep...dc power doesnt ether... but my plan is to have a 300amp alt, with prolly 2 kinetik 1800's in the back and a 2000 in the front, with all 1/0 gauge... I havent decided on a amp(s) yet...I also thought about doing just level 4's instead of the xl's cause I dont know how much my alternator is going to be and im on a tight budget...but if I do end up just getting the level 4's im thinking ether a Powerbass 5000 or something close to it, i need to research some amps...any suggestions?

I'm having James design me a wall for 2 XL 18's off of 2 AQ 2200d's.

And also the space I am using is 41" wide, 34" tall, and 28" deep. lol. That's almost the same as yours. That, too, is the space available. I'm hoping to keep it around 12-12.5 cubes at ~35 Hz.

It's perfect for daily beating. Have it wired to 1 ohm and it was really making the XL sing, and move too. Doesn't get warm at all, unless it sits in the 110 degree weather. It's a great match IMO. After I get everything done I will likely get the XL's reconed so I can wire below 1 ohm. :woot:

Also it doesn't help that the AQ is seeing about .9 volts from my awesome Jensen H/U(Alpine 9886 was stolen three months ago). Piece of crap clips before 1 volt. New H/U and Audio Control Overdrive should make the AQ happier.

Haha yeah, one of my biggest concerns about finding amps right now is because I cant find a alt for my jeep...stock is like 120 amps I think and a 250 amp alt from dc is supperrrrrr expensive...so idk what im going to do yet, but those amps seem like a pretty awesome product
