1loudgagt1
ive been having problems with keeping the volts up to my amp. i just installed a 220amp excessive amperage alt to fix the problem. i tried the system and im still having the same problem. the volts at the battery stay consistant at 14.4 no matter how loud the system is, but the amp is ranging from 13.6 - 11.7. what could be causing this problem? possibly a bad ground or something is wrong with the amp itself? all imput will be appreciated. thanks

tacomabanga1986
rockford fosgate t2000.1bd 4 gauge as of right now its wired to 1 ohm i have the big 3 done in 0 gauge and a optima yellow top. with 4guage i would wire the sub(s) to the highest ohm load that u can till u get some 0guage, that might fix ur voltage problem with rockford amps they need power to make power, with that big of an amp, u dont want to see ur volts drop down to 11.xx, try to keep it to no lower than 12v if u can help it with car running Edited August 25, 2010 by tacomabanga1986 Quote here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
Boon
You're probably pulling close to 300A through a piece of wire that's made to take 100A. I bet that's where a lot of your voltage drop is coming from. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
Rockbrook
i bet getting rid of that 4gauge and using 0gauge will help.
GioRF
i bet getting rid of that 4gauge and using 0gauge will help. X2 I also have a t20001bd and it draws a lot of current. It comes with a 250 amp. fuse so you know it needs a heavy wire.
wfw5607
you really need some 0 ga wire and check your grounds on both ends (at amp and body or frame to engine) this i have seen happen before and the ground strap on the motor was really corroded and it was causing that problem. we replace d the ground to from the motor to the body/batter with some 0ga and it worked great Quote Build in progress Alpine CDEHD-138BT Alpine SPX-17PRO 2x Alpine SWS-15d2 2x Alpine PDX-V9 2x Alpine PDX-M12 Stinger SPC5050 Stinger 1/0ga and 4ga Audioquest interconnects and Speaker wire Dynomat 10455 mega bulk pak Dynomat 1/8 and 1/4 liner All that in a Reg cab truck and it wont be a blow though
