Ji553r Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 alright so i have a stinger voltmeter hooked up onto my sundown and for the past month it has been sitting at 13.9 which is normal. starting today i was driving around ( music off) and the meter said constant 13.3 and even dropped down to 12.9 for a few seconds then back to 13.3. well i thought it would be my alternator so i pulled into a parking lot and tested the rear batt and amp with my DMM....the thing is the rear batt is at the normal 13.9 and the amp was 13.3 and below. the amp has sat still since day 1 and the wiring hasnt been messed with so i dont know what to think here my guess is either something with the wire is blocking/losing voltage or the amp has somehow broken for no reason within a day which neither of those seem to be right its just my only thought to make sense of this right now. does anybody have any ideas? Ji553r Posted August 27, 2010 Author Report Posted August 27, 2010 Pull the wires off each battery and clean the terminals and check to make sure no lugs are loose as your probably got a bit of corrosion going on or something loose. wire soldered into lug which i got from darvex and i checked to see if anythning is loose but i will go check for corrosion on battery terminals and lugs and i will check power and ground terminals on sundown while im at it. i didnt think of that edit: no corrosion but i will clean em anyway whats best to clean em i dont have CC brushes? i think steel wool is the best i have i just dont wanna touchh it to the battery or amp lol. will that work? I don't fuck around. Ji553r Posted August 27, 2010 Author Report Posted August 27, 2010 my car does that too sometimes. really what do you do to fix it? normally it wouldnt bother me because i know my alternator sucks but the thing is now i cant play full tilt anymore the voltage drops below 12 then stinger turns off with the amp and bye bye bass I don't fuck around. Ji553r Posted August 27, 2010 Author Report Posted August 27, 2010 lol ok i fixed it...for future reference everytime i checked connection strength to see if anything is loose i check the terminals and lugs at the battery and the amp, only.....on the fuse/holder between battery and amp a bolt became loose on the fuse holder which is what the lug is attached to so only the tip was touching=bad connection=low power. alex check your fuseholders if they have a lug being attached to fuse with bolt lol I don't fuck around.
