Optima Yellow top deep cycle? or 2 regular batteries?

i have an 86 monte carlo with stock electrical, and might have to upgrade my electrical for a hifonics BRZ 2100.d. its supposed be able to put out 2100 watts rms at 1 ohm. there new line is CEA certified.

anyway, whats better to use? optima depp cycle battery or hook up another regualr battery?

dont know if this does anything, but the battery is has side post terminals.

That is a good sized amp so it will take some power. I would get the Optima yellowtop g31 with top and side post terminals. Do the big 3 upgrade for sure and you should be fine. If you are still experiencing a voltage drop that dips pretty low go ahead and put another one in the trunk but make sure to fuse both ends of the power wire that runs to the battery just to be on the safe side hope all works out bro

Should be no issue with voltage drop with a pair of optima's. Gonna run out of power eventually though if your alt cant charge your batts.

edit to answer your question just trim some of the plastic or get a slightly longer bolt for your positive terminal then slide a protective cap over it( Electrical tap is good too)

Actually side post terminals are less likely to corrode than the top post. Case in point how many times have you seen someone cleaning side post terminals in comparison to top post terminals?

If you havent the Optima in your closet, i would have a look at XS or Stinger. Read that they have another kind of function

who is much more positiv to put out power for Systems.

To do Big Three Upgrade with side post terminals here is the easiest way possible. Get you an optima Yellowtop G31 Battery with side post and top post terminals. Hook all stock wiring to side posts, then get you top post adapters and run a 1/0 charge wire, 1/0 engine ground, and 1/0 chassis ground. If you need any help or pictures let me know
