I've heard the jokes and hate on Kicker and their subs, but I'm wondering about the Solo X's. How do they sound on a decent amp like Rockford's? I know sometimes the brands of amp can completely change the way a sub sounds. How about with Kicker's own amps?

ive had ever size solo-x made. in my opinion, the 18 is the best sounding of the bunch. if you do your part on the enclosure and setting the amp correctly, they can sound amazing. most of the people to run off about the solo-x being crappy, have never used one. and even fewer have used one in a proper enclosure.

next system i build for daily driving will be 2 18" solo-x with 2 kicker zx2500.1

I thought so. Kicker never stuck me as crap even down to the Comp VRs.

my old system was one 18" solo-x, built with 8.9ft^3, tuned at 26hz, with 2 kicker kx2500.1. on the dash it would do 153db @ 30hz on my termlab, in a non walled daily system. the lows were un-godly in the car.

A very good friend of mine run's a single 18" X off of a T3k, and it sounds awesome and get's low low. The only thing with his set up is that the sub get's pretty smelly after about 30 min's of pounding on it.

His spl vehicle run's 4 12" solo-x's off of a stetsom 14k and it does 157.4 so I would never say that Kicker is junk. But for the money I think there is better stuff out there.

We both know that there is better stuff out there for a cheaper price, it's just that we support local business and we are in a town of 9k people and only 1 shop. So they carry kicker, rf, and jlaudio. Hince the reason that I run all JL and he run's all Kicker.

Not sure if this helps you out at all, but as said earlier the 18" sounds great when put into the right box with the right amount of power. As for the power recommendations 5k is great for burps, but I personally would not put 5k to it at all times. Say in that 2500-3000 watt range and you will be very happy.
