Howcome others dont need alts, but I do?

Lets do math, lets assume you've done your big three to maximize your stock electrical supply. Your stock alt puts out 136 amps. Lets throw away 36 amps because your car will be using them already, so that gives you 100amps on a perfect day. Your typically small car battery will have a very low ah rating, somewhere between 50-75. Lets assume worst case on the battery because walmart batts are shit anyway, so you can safely run 150 amps on your stock electrical, assuming of course you have the wiring to transport that amperage (that means big three and a single run of 1/0). Your system will most likely be sucking up everything your alt has to offer (which is hard on alts btw) so your voltage WILL fall to battery voltage of 12.5 or lower depending on quality/life of the battery. So, 150x12.5 = 1875 potential stock alts. But wait a second, no amp has perfect efficiency! I like to use 8 0% efficiency as a good amplifier average. So 1875x0.8 = 1500. If you don't have the money to buy an alt, then you obviously don't have the money to replace amplifiers. That means buy a 1500watt or less amp, and whatever subs your heart desires (or can afford). If you don't have the power for 2200watts, then don't get a 2200 watt amp. Power isn't as important as you think, 1500watts is A LOT OF POWER still. In your case, i would try to get as much cone area as i could and build as efficient of enclosure as you can, and you will be very loud on not so much $$$. OK?
