EclipseChris Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 I was hangin with CLNFREAK yesterday and he was saying something about adding a half or single watt resistor in line with one of the alternator wires in order to almost trick the computer to charge the batts a little higher voltage. Is this true and is it possible with a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 auto FWD? If it is how do i go about doing it? I have a HO alt and 3 batts and it charges to like 14v flat and i want at least 14.4 Thanks! i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P. Eclipse build Old New V-Dub My feedback.

audiofanaticz Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 you just hook it up to the alternator wire. cut the wire in half, wire 1 side of the resister to one wire and the other lead of the resistor to the other wire to complete the circuit again but with the resister in line. probably would work on your car or any car most likely.. not to sure tho never had any reason to try it.

Your talking about the wire that clips in right? Because i have 2 wires that clip in and then the 0 gauge out to the batt. Im pretty sure it would be the wire 2nd from the left, or 3rd from the right (depending on which way your looking at the plug). If you can see the socket where the plug gets plugged into on the back of the alternator there should be 4 letters. Usually your vehicle uses the S and the L connections. It would be the wire that is not plugged into the S part of the plug. but your vehicle could be different.
