4th Order in a trunk

im trying to find a new box design for my 3512 (PB 3k for power)

1st idea: standard bass reflex but this time with about 20^2" per cube, 2.5 net volume, 35hz

2nd idea: 8th wave t-line @ 35hz

3rd idea: 4th order, 1 cube sealed 2 or 3 ported, not sure on tuning

basically i need the box to gross about 4 cubes (just to make it fit)

my dimensions are 14hx34wx15d

^ those are rough estimates btw might be more

thoughts, ideas, comments, advice, designs?

let me know guys

obviously i want it to be loud on the meter but i will not sacrifice my music for a number.

I vote for 4th order. Or just for shits in giggles try a normal ported but with something crazy for port, like 25sq inches.

ive been having trouble making it work

i cant make the tuning and net volume where i want them

i think that would be easiest though

will a huge port create unloading problems or no?

it makes sense that it would. however bkolfo says that the port area is based on woofer not box.

i know that like 75" is less than what the max port area i could have is. therefore i may be safe. id assume my f3 would be a lot more sensitive though

Them things are trial and error from what ive heard. Also try getting ahold of 8 0inches, or singer. Im sure they could come up with something for you.

Do a DD box. Simple, effective.

Or a 6th order.

Don't do a phase box, DD's don't like them. Well, they only like bass-reflex horns.

4th order = best box ever for a musical 2500 but not for a 15/35/95

my box is currently built to DD specs except i have 14" per cube instead of 16 like they advise

should i try and get my port area up and just leave it?

What's wrong with your current box? I've found that the DD design is a damn good compromise between output and quality. Anywhere from 12-18 inches of port works great.

Since you're running plenty of power you could possibly decrease the box size and increase the port area a little, basically what you're suggesting, but I don't think you would gain much. Slightly under 2 cubes would work well IMO.
