4th Order in a trunk

I agree with Boon. 2500s LOVE bandpasses.

Im doing 4 3515s in a 4th order now, 9.33cu.ft sealed, and 27+cu.ft ported tuned at 45hz.

I had problems with the 2500s getting to hot and the coils failing, I think if I would have put their motors in the ported section they would have cooled down better.

There was a guy at SBN that had 4 3515s in a 4th order wall doing a 153 @ 25hz or so.

You're not the first person to stick a 25 in a bandpass, go WOW this sounds GREAT and cook the coils because the motor was in the sealed half :drinks:

They go way better if the motor can get fresh air to it :)

What's wrong with your current box? I've found that the DD design is a damn good compromise between output and quality. Anywhere from 12-18 inches of port works great.

Since you're running plenty of power you could possibly decrease the box size and increase the port area a little, basically what you're suggesting, but I don't think you would gain much. Slightly under 2 cubes would work well IMO.

my current box sounds great but was kinda saddening on the meter.

From a trunker without insane amounts of power don't sweat it.

We managed to pull a 140.2 from a 9512 on 1kw in a trunk car but we had to pull the damn back seat out to get there. It's not super duper easy.

why not use the spare tire space? Fiber glass the floor of your car face sub up and port up. Under the back dash making sure all bass has to fire off back window You can build a 6 cubic box and still have room for stuff. I am going to dig up a photo of my acura tl. When I do I will post a pic. I would have put my 18's under the dash if servicing them wasnt such a pain the butt!

yes would have to hack....a nice area the size of a couple of tens would be perfect.

well then.... I say point sub up and port up at back trunk. Your car will rattle. but your low bass will be outstanding...when I say low I mean 30ish.
