Which Alt/batts Should I Get To Power

Recommended Posts

Out of curiosity what do you have in your setup??....and thanks for the advice, although now I'm thinkin of getting more subs b/c a friend of mine put 8 of them in, ....and I can't let my friends have more sound than I do, even though I know I'm going to do a better install than I did...he went broke

I don't have much, just 16 12's behind the second row. The box is 38ft3

if you go for a burb, look for a 3/4 ton. It will handle the weight better. I was around 2000lbs in system for awhile.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

Go with the 16 subs, you'll love it.

However there are some things to keep in mind.

Weight 16 subs adds up. So does the amps to push them and the batteries to power them. Don't forget about all the wood.

Wood. Not sure bout the Chebbies but the floor width of the X is 52" 54 if you take out the plastic panels.

Now 16 W7's will put you at 52 x 52 at a minimum. Thats all subs touching so doing 4 wide will be a tight fit but can be done.

While were on that, MDF comes in a 49 x 97 sheet which sucks when you need 52" wide. Either you will burn more sheets then you need by turning them of you can special order them. either way it's $$$

The max depth for the X with the rear captains chairs is 60" That leaves you with a little room to mount some batteries between the box and seat and still recline the rear seats a bit.

isnt a 13w7 a little wider than 13.5"? if so, you cant even do 4 across.

Ouch!
