I would use the only to keep my drivers dry. They probably flex like crazy. Maybe try resining the inside for added strength.

The front baffle is just as important though so make sure that's also sturdy.

there in the door and i just used the stock mounting point but made a 6.5 spacer from 5.25 using 3/4 mdf screwed the mdf to the door then the speaker to the mdf

how do you make the resin and where do you get it ?

also you may want to use a layer or two of wood sealer on that mdf. If it gets wet at all it will start peeling layers.

you can get fiberglass resin at wal mart in the auto section.
