asd843 Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 I just installed 2 15's in my wrangler yesterday. Anyways, when I turn the key to turn on the accessories the subs start to hum a very low note even with the volume all the way on 0. If you turn the volume up then the hum gets louder and you can hear it through the whole song. The subs are moving just a little bit, but they move constantly, it's really annoying. If I unplug the RCA cable then the noise stops, but that's because there is no more signal going to the amp. I read somewhere not to run your RCA cable next to the power cable so I seperated them and it is still happening. I even got to the point that I made sure none of the wires are touching at all and it is still making the noise. I am really hoping to fix this tonight, anyone got any tips?

asd843 Posted September 26, 2010 Author Report Posted September 26, 2010 Okay, well grounding the RCA cable made it so that if the volume is on 0 there is no hum. But once it goes to 1 the hum comes back. Anyone else got an idea?

The noise is ground noise... The amp is trying to ground itself through the RCAs bc you likely have a poor ground.
